Wedding Wednesday - Exciting new changes

Happy Leap Year everyone! It's time for another edition of our Wedding Wednesdays. I'm exciting to give a sneak peak about what we're working on around here.

As everyone knows by now, we love weddings and working with the coolest couples ever. We've got some big projects under way here, including an all new website dedicated just to weddings and engagements. I'm so excited about the new additions this site will have, like cool image collages, and an all new link to my Pinterest boards. We're now Pinning about weddings too, so be sure to check us out.

The new website should be online soon and you'll hear about it here. Don't forget you can always follow us on Facebook and Twitter too.

Til next time,
Amanda

Wedding Wednesday - best advice

We're all abuzz around here gearing up for wedding season. It has me thinking about our own wedding 11 years ago.

My mom gave me the best advice...

"Don't marry the one you can live with...Marry the one you can't live without."

Thanks mom.

Ohana means family

Happy Friday! It's Family Day on Monday here in Ontario, so the kids will be home for a long weekend. We'll be spending the day having fun with family, with the camera around of course! Sydney's cousin Kenzie is a model here in Niagara, and we're honoured that her mom Linda (my aunt) asked us to shoot some headshots of her. We're bringing Sydney along for fun, so it should be a great time for us all. Check back next week for the images.  To celebrate this long weekend, here's one of my favourite quotes about family:

'Ohana means family - no one gets left behind, and no one is ever forgotten." Lilo & Stitch

Whatever your plans are this weekend, take a moment to be present with your family. Turn of the electronics and pick up a board game. Have a family dinner. Tell us what you'll be doing this long weekend! We'd love to hear it.

Wedding Wednesday - Rebecca and Jordan

It's that time of the week again - Wedding Wednesday! I can't believe how quickly the week has flown by.

This week we're really excited because we've just met with an awesome couple named Rebecca and Jordan. We'll be shooting their wedding this July at one of our favourite venues ever, Riverbend Inn and Vineyard in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Here's one of my favourite shots taken there, from Melissa and Geoff's September wedding:

Melissa & Geoff at Riverbend Inn

What I love about Rebecca and Jordan is their focus on what's important on their wedding day - their love and the people who are special to them. They've planned a small, intimate wedding so they'll be able to spend time with their family, with many of the guests flying in from around the world. Even they are coming all the way from New Zealand. How cool is that?

And what I love about Riverbend Inn is its ability to host this type of wedding so perfectly. Their private Coach House and romantic vineyard complete with a gazebo are such perfect  spots for a wedding. You just have to look at some of the images we've shot there to see how lovely it is.

I'm all for big, extravagant weddings with every imaginable detail, especially for a bride who has dreamed of her wedding as long as she can remember. But I also want to give a shout out to all those weddings, like ours, who are small, intimate and focused just on who you're really close with. I believe your wedding should be whatever is the best reflection of you as a couple - whether that's 300 guests or 30.

We'll be sharing more about Rebecca and Jordan's story as we get closer to their big day. Having clients around the world is one of the coolest parts of our business.

And to Rebecca and Jordan - we can't wait to get to know you guys even more!

New! Wedding Wednesdays are here!

Have we mentioned lately how much we looooove weddings? Maybe it's because we've been married ourselves for almost 12 years...Maybe it's because we work with such great couples and their love is contagious. Regardless of the reasons, I'm a big ole sucker for weddings, and I still cry at every one.

There are so many amazing resources out there for couples planning their weddings, or for anyone like me who just love weddings. Starting today we're going to bring some of them to you each week with our new Wedding Wednesdays.

We're kicking off Wedding Wednesdays by featuring one of my favourites, Amy and Jocey from The Wedding Chicks.

I could spend hours (and sometimes do!) admiring their gorgeous site, with everything from DIY projects, real weddings, resources and lots more. Their Printables and DIY section is so amazing and full of great freebies. I love the Mad Men inspired Save the Date templates! You simply customize their templates and voila! Super cool.

These personalized monograms are gorgeous, and so easily customizable. I want to try out every one of them.

If you're planning a wedding, and even if you're not, you have to check out The Wedding Chicks site or follow them on Twitter (@weddingchicks) and Pinterest (wedding chicks).

What else do you want us to bring you for upcoming Wedding Wednesdays? Let us know. We always love hearing from you.

See you next week for more wedding love,
Amanda

Pinterest

Have you heard the buzz about Pinterest yet? I've fallen head-over-heels in love with the site. It's no surprise to me that it was the fastest growing social media site in 2011, and it's on track to break records this year too. They say it drives more web traffic right now than Google+, YouTube and LinkedIn combined! Crazy.

Click here to find me on Pinterest or let me know if you'd like an invite to try it out (the site is still invite-only, but I'd love to get you Pinning too). But be warned...it's addictive!

What is Pinterest you ask? The folks there say "Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests." What to I say about it? It rocks.

Here's a Mashable article I love that tells you everything you need to know about Pinterest, including how to plan a wedding using Pinterest.  I use it for inspiration, sharing ideas with clients and friends, keeping all those great ideas in one place (you never know when you'll need that red velvet cupcake recipe!) and lots more. I really love seeing what people I know, and even don't, are Pinning. It's like Facebook, but prettier...

Happy Pinning!
Amanda
